Tragically, before any help or guidance materializes, survivors are expected to navigate an intricate, interwoven maze of applications, registrations, and claim filings. Additionally, all of this has to be done while juggling the trauma of the disaster’s impact and experiencing Disaster Fog™ .
After decades of experience in disaster recovery it has become evident that the first 90 days after any disaster are the most critical to an accelerated, complete, and sustainable recovery. This is also the time when there is a lack of structure, support, and guidance. The missteps survivors can make during this time can have long-lasting and devastating consequences that completely change the trajectory of, not only their rebuild, but also their financial stability for many years to come.
The Solution
Compass 82 was created to fill this detrimental void in the disaster recovery process. Our vision, formalized in JUMPSTART, is to be a beacon for survivors during the crucial initial phase of recovery. Our comprehensive “Educate ⇒ Navigate ⇒ Advocate” approach provides survivors with knowledge and guidance to understand the framework of disaster recovery which will expedite a successful recovery.
By streamlining the initial process and providing vital information at the time it is needed, Compass 82 will help disaster survivors save time and money by avoiding costly mistakes that hinder their recovery. Additionally, we prioritize working with and supporting our non-profit, business, and governmental partners by providing our customized guidance and collaborative solutions to accelerate a successful community recovery.
